MODLANE Privacy & Data Controls
Closed Beta
Version 1.0 | Effective Date: 23 July 2026
This page explains the privacy controls available to MODLANE users and how to exercise rights under the GDPR. It is intended for publication in the MODLANE Privacy & Data area.
1. About this page
This page explains the privacy and data controls available to MODLANE users and how to exercise rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and other applicable data-protection law.
MODLANE is currently operated by Aleksandr Boiko in Ireland. Privacy requests may be submitted through the Privacy & Data page while signed in or by email to office@modlane.app. You do not have to use a particular form or legal wording.
This page should be read together with the MODLANE Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Beta Terms of Service. Applicable law prevails if this summary differs from a legal right.
2. Controls available in your account
- Analytics preferences: accept, reject or withdraw consent for optional PostHog analytics.
- Local history: clear locally stored chats, AI responses and converted document text from the current browser.
- Account information: review or correct your displayed name and account details, subject to email verification where required.
- Delete account: delete the active MODLANE account and clear MODLANE local browser data on the current device.
- Privacy request: request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or objection.
- Legal documents: open the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Beta Terms of Service.
3. Analytics and cookie controls
Optional PostHog analytics remains disabled unless you make a separate affirmative choice to accept analytics. Rejecting analytics does not prevent access to the core Service.
- Accept Analytics enables the analytics configuration described in the Cookie Policy.
- Reject Analytics keeps PostHog capture and browser persistence disabled.
- Cookie Settings lets you change your choice later. Withdrawal takes effect for future collection and removes MODLANE-controlled PostHog identifiers from the current browser.
- A withdrawal does not automatically erase analytics records already stored by PostHog. You may request deletion of identifiable historical analytics data through a full erasure request.
MODLANE may ask you to renew an analytics choice after up to six months or where the purpose or technology materially changes.
4. Local chat history and browser data
MODLANE chat history is currently stored in localStorage in the browser rather than in a MODLANE chat database. It may include prompts, AI responses and converted text from uploaded documents.
- Clear Local History removes MODLANE chat history from the browser and device where you use the control.
- Clearing local history does not clear another browser, profile or device. Repeat the action on each device where MODLANE was used.
- MODLANE normally cannot retrieve or export local-only chat history because it is not held on MODLANE servers.
- Clearing browser data, changing devices or reinstalling a browser may permanently remove local history.
5. Correcting account information
You may ask MODLANE to correct inaccurate personal data or complete incomplete account information. Changes to an email address may require verification of the existing and/or new address to protect the account.
Correction does not require MODLANE to change an opinion, AI output or an accurate historical record. Where appropriate, MODLANE may add a supplementary statement or record that information is disputed.
6. Access and copies of personal data
You may ask whether MODLANE processes personal data about you and request a copy together with information about the purposes, categories, recipients, retention, sources and applicable rights.
- A copy may include available Supabase account data, identifiable PostHog analytics, Resend transactional-email records, Zoho support correspondence and identifiable technical records still within provider retention periods.
- Local-only chat history is not included because MODLANE cannot ordinarily access it. Use Clear Local History or export/copy important content from your browser before clearing it.
- The right of access is a right to personal data, not necessarily to original documents, source code, security secrets, confidential information about another person or material protected by another legal restriction.
7. Data portability
Where the GDPR right to portability applies, MODLANE will provide eligible personal data that you supplied, and that is processed by automated means on the basis of consent or contract, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
Portability does not generally apply to inferred analytics, security assessments, internal legal analysis or data processed on another lawful basis. Direct transmission to another controller will be considered where technically feasible and lawful.
8. Delete account
Delete Account is an immediate product control, not the same as a request for full GDPR erasure.
- It deletes the active Supabase Auth account and signs the user out.
- It clears MODLANE localStorage on the current browser and device.
- It does not remotely clear localStorage on another device.
- It does not automatically erase historical records held in PostHog, Zoho Mail, Resend, infrastructure logs or AI-provider systems.
Use Full Erasure Request where you want MODLANE to assess and delete personal data across relevant systems, subject to legal and technical limits.
9. Full erasure request
You may request deletion of personal data where an applicable ground for erasure exists. MODLANE will search relevant systems and take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify data for which MODLANE is responsible.
- This may include the active Supabase account, identifiable PostHog person data and events, support and privacy correspondence, transactional-email records and identifiable provider records where deletion is available.
- Data may already have expired under short provider retention periods or may not be linked to an account in a way that allows reliable identification.
- Some information may be retained where necessary for legal obligations, legal claims, security, fraud prevention, the rights of another person or another lawful exception.
- MODLANE will explain any material information that cannot be erased and the reason, unless the law restricts that explanation.
10. Restriction and objection
You may request restriction of processing in circumstances provided by the GDPR, including while accuracy or an objection is being assessed. Restricted data may be stored but will not be used for other purposes except where legally permitted.
You may object to processing based on MODLANE’s legitimate interests. MODLANE will stop that processing unless it demonstrates compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed for legal claims.
Optional analytics is controlled through consent, so the simplest method is to select Reject Analytics or withdraw consent through Cookie Settings.
11. Withdrawal of consent
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
Analytics consent can be withdrawn through Cookie Settings. Other consent-based requests may be sent to office@modlane.app.
12. AI routing and automated processing
MODLANE automatically classifies requests and selects third-party AI providers. This routing is used to provide the Service and is not intended to make decisions about users that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
MODLANE does not currently offer a per-request provider selector or a provider-specific opt-out. Do not submit content if you do not want it processed by the third-party AI providers described in the Privacy Policy.
You may request information about the logic and practical significance of automated routing to the extent required by applicable law and without requiring disclosure of security-sensitive or proprietary system details.
13. How to submit a privacy request
- Use Settings → Privacy & Data and select the relevant request type while signed in; or
- Email office@modlane.app from the email address connected to your account.
Describe the right you wish to exercise and provide enough information to locate the relevant account or correspondence. You do not need to quote a GDPR article.
A representative may act for you where they provide adequate proof of authority. MODLANE may also need to verify your identity before disclosing or deleting data.
14. Identity verification
MODLANE will use the least intrusive verification reasonably available. A signed-in account action or confirmation through the registered email address will normally be sufficient.
If MODLANE has reasonable doubts about identity, it may request limited additional information. A copy of photographic identification will not be required as a routine condition and will be requested only where necessary, proportionate and legally justified.
15. Response time and fees
- MODLANE will respond without undue delay and normally within one month after receiving a request.
- The period may be extended by up to two additional months where necessary because of complexity or the number of requests. MODLANE will explain the extension within the first month.
- Requests are normally free. A reasonable fee may be charged, or action may be refused, only where a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, particularly because it is repetitive, and where permitted by law.
- Where information needed to verify identity or clarify the request is reasonably required, MODLANE will request it promptly.
16. Limits and refusals
Data-protection rights are not absolute. MODLANE may limit or refuse a request where permitted or required by law, including to protect another person’s rights, comply with a legal obligation, establish or defend legal claims, preserve security or apply a statutory restriction.
Where MODLANE does not act, it will normally explain the reason and inform you about the right to complain to a supervisory authority and seek a judicial remedy.
17. Complaints
Please contact MODLANE first so the concern can be investigated. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission or another competent EEA supervisory authority.
- Data Protection Commission, 6 Pembroke Row, Dublin 2, D02 X963, Ireland.
- Website: dataprotection.ie.
Making a complaint does not affect any other administrative or judicial remedy available to you.
